HONOLULU (KITV4) - The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) answered a 911 call to rescue an employee from a 10- story- high silo in Kapolei on Wednesday morning. 

HFD received the call at 10:06 AM to rescue the employee at the Hawaiian Cement products and supplies located at 91-055 Kaomi Loop in Kapolei.

Five HFD units, staffed with 20 personnel, responded to the emergency. 

The 55-year-old male employee was inspecting a silo that stores cement powder when he suddenly felt dizzy and could not walk on his own.

The first firefighters arrived at the scene at 10:15 a.m. and immediately ascended up to the top of the silo and made contact with the employee at 10:27 a.m.

Several more HFD personnel also went up the silo as well as an Emergency Medical Services unit.

The employee was then packaged onto a rescue stretcher and HFD personnel used rope to safely lower him to the ground.

All HFD personnel were safe and accounted for and the HFD closed this incident at 11:30 a.m.
