Cement powder spilled Friday from the bottom of a silo in Charlestown, prompting a hazmat response.
A truck was being loaded with the concrete when it overflowed at 50 Terminal St. The driver said they were unable to stop the flow of material.
The Boston Fire Department said there was a Level 2 Hazmat response after the overfill of concrete created a large cloud of dust. The substance can be hazardous if inhaled or if a lot of it gets onto your skin.
Three buildings were evacuated as a precaution.
The decontamination unit treated three people. No injuries were reported.
Several vehicles parked in the area were seen covered in powder.
A similar incident occurred at the same facility in 2006. Thousands of pounds of powdered cement came from the top of the silo covering school buses and causing delays.
